Wood Elf Name Generator

Wood elf naming keeps the elvish sound — soft consonants, liquid endings — but grounds it in the natural world. The roots and endings come from woodland vocabulary: leaf, bough, thorn, brook, moss, fern, oak, briar. Names also tend to run shorter than those of their high elf cousins, because wood elf culture is built around the forest and the hunt rather than around courts and long recited ancestries.

In D&D the wood elf is a distinct elven subrace, typically portrayed as reclusive forest dwellers with a talent for archery and stealth — the practical, outdoorsy branch of elvenkind. That characterisation sits neatly alongside the naming: a name drawn from the woods suits a ranger far better than a courtly name would.

For a character concept, pick the natural thing they are tied to first — a tree, a season, a bird, a river — and reroll until the generator gives you an ending that fits. The name and the character will arrive together.
